Hi-Vis and Cut Protection Come Together For A New Level of Hand Safety

BLOG ARTICLES

Proper safety on the job starts with being aware of your surroundings. A key part of this awareness is knowing the environment and knowing what protective clothing to wear to be safe and compliant. Obviously you can see and hear the car or forklift coming right at you, but without hi-vis clothing on, you can easily blend into the background of your surroundings.

The majority of hi-vis protective clothing covers our torso and legs, which provides enough coverage so you can be seen against any background. In close quarters however, it is the rest of our body that is at risk for injuries. Even though our hands are attached to us, we often can lose sight of them and end up getting them cut or caught in a machine.

The Rise of Cut Protection

A popular new thought in the safety industry is for workers to wear cut resistant gloves even in general work environments. This will give the worker added protection when they lose sight of their hands. With advancements in cut-resistant fiber technology, there are now affordable hand protection options that offer cut protection, like our G-Tek® Polykor™ lineup of gloves. And if you're looking for  extraordinary dexterity and tactile sensitivity with some added cut protection, we offer our Maxiflex® Cut™ gloves from ATG®.

These are great solutions for those “oops” moments when we lose sight of our hands. And as effective as cut protection may be, we can even take this a step further and offer additional protection – and no, we aren't talking about buying gloves with higher-rated cut scores. Instead, we are referring to increasing the visibility of our hands.

Hi-Visibility & Cut Protection

As noted earlier, we wear hi-vis protective clothing so that we can be seen. So why don't we wear hi-vis gloves too? It is a simple question to ask. If our hands are more visible, we can keep them safe. When we are working with machines and in low-light environments, we can easily lose sight of our hands due to the lack of light.

That is why Protective Industrial Products, Inc. is introducing Maxiflex® Cut™ in hi-vis yellow. This new option offers you the same cut protection as the Maxiflex® Cut™, and because of the hi-vis coloring, it will be easier to see your hands and the hands of someone you are working with. Now with Maxiflex® Cut™ you have a comprehensive safety combination of cut protection and hi-vis coloring to keep you and your hands safe on the job.
